UNRWA is the United Nations agency responsible for the protection, care and human development of a population of some 4.6 million Palestine refugees living in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, and the Syrian Arab Republic. Most of the staff members are refugees themselves, working directly to benefit their communities – as teachers, doctors, nurses or social workers.

Coordinator (Tailoring)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the ideal candidate:
1. Sews and finishes products according to the priorities assigned by Sulafa Manager and Embroidery Supervisor and using the known production methods;
2. Ensures that tailored goods meet Sulafa’s Quality Checklist and Quality Assurance standards.
3. Labels of the products, as per labelling setup;
4. When piece worker tailors are needed:
 Distributes work to and receives work from piece worker tailors, according to agreed schedule and quality standards.
 Instructs piece worker tailors on the techniques and quality standards of each Sulafa product.
 Maintains an accurate record of the materials held by each piece worker tailor, and of the work successfully completed for payment.
 Submits work for quality acceptance.
 Carries out any finishing processes requested
5. Perform such other production-related duties as may be assigned from time to time.

PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
 Secondary level education and at least a one year professional training/qualification in tailoring.
 Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in tailoring and garment finishing.
 The Coordinator (tailoring) should be familiar with Sulafa’s work, including the product line and production processes.
 Should have a strong verifiable work performance record for quality, production speed, and reliability.
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
 Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary $772.30 and monthly dependency allowance $18.65 and Group Medical Insurance GMI $12.00.
 Contract Duration: up to 12 months. Extension is subject to funds availability, continuing need and satisfactory performance.
 Leave: 36 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with six-day working week. 30 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with five-day working week.
 Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.
 Employment for this post might be either on full-time or part-time basis based on the needs. Announcing this modality does not mean that it would definitely be used. It would rather give the Agency the flexibility to use both full time and part time contracts based on the work needs and the personal circumstances or preferences of the staff member.
 A regular staff member can apply to this LDC post but will not be allowed to assume such post through secondment as he/she needs to leave his/her current post to accept LDC appointment.

EQUIVALENCY
Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered
