Career Counsellor - Society of women graduates

Vacancy Announcement for the Career Counsellor 

Position: Career Counsellor 
Location: Gaza 
Duration: 6 months

Background: 
Society of women graduates in Gaza strip is non-governmental and non-profit organization, established in Gaza in 1974, aims to empower female graduates through capacity building development programs, skills rehabilitation, education, awareness-raising, job placement and advocacy for their rights by creating local, regional and international partnerships.

SWG implements Young Women Leaders Programme (YWLP)-Applying Skills (Work Placement Scheme, Orientation Working Days and Small Scale Projects) funded by UNRWA-Gender Initiative.

Job:
The Career Counsellor will identify and analyse the needs for counselling for the YWLP graduates. S/He will work under the supervision of the Project Coordinator – Gender Initiative, Programme Support unit  

Tasks and responsibilities
The Career Counsellors responsible for
Developing  written materials, including guides and job aides for the use of the YWLP graduates; 
Carrying out activities such as orientation days, training, on the job counseling etc.;
Matching between the graduates’ skills and educational background and the offered jobs; 
Preparing the time plan and reporting as needed;  
Providing advice, guidance and feedback to build the confidence and improve effectiveness among the graduates within existing tasks and possible means to acquire the knowledge and  skills necessary for personal development;   
Identifying challenges the YWLP graduates may be experiencing, assisting the graduates  to determine causes and agree on suitable solutions; 
Providing individual and group career counselling to the YWLP graduates who will access work placements;
Conducting field visits and mentoring graduates as they attend the work placement;
Interface with the institutions hosting the YWLP graduates in the placements;  and 
Revising the job description for the offered jobs with companies and organizations.

Qualification:
A university degree in human resources, public or business administration or any related field 
Experience: 
At least three years of work experience in human resources management or business administration.
At least 3 years of work experience in working with International project I the experience  
At least 3 years of work experience in working with women’s empowerment or protection  and gender based-violence programming 
Familiarity with economic empowerment programming and strategies.
Language: 
Good command of spoken and written English and Arabic.
Competencies:
1. Proven analytical skills 
2. Ability to identify needs, establish priorities and to plan, coordinate and monitor own work and with his\her supervisor 
3. Have the spirit of team work 
4. Proven ability to provide leadership to/among young women
