Back ground:
War Child (WC) is an independent and impartial, international non-governmental organization investing in a peaceful future for children and young people affected by armed conflict. We support children regardless of their religion, ethnicity, social background, or gender. Our work is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

WC believes that children and young people should play an active role in defining the future. Not only for themselves but also for their communities. Children are creative and have the ability and skills to shape their lives and cope with adversity, even when they have experienced armed conflict.
Our Gaza response programme works in partnerships with local organizations to safeguard children’s rights, focused primarily in the areas of protection, Psychosocial Support (PSS) and advocacy. With funding from several donors (DFID, DEC, Plan UK, WCUK, HPF and WCH), WC in partnership with 10 NGO and CBO from Gaza, implemented a response to the August 2014 War on Gaza during 17 months (August 2014 – December 2015) aiming at ensuring the fundamental needs of most affected children and families in the Gaza Strip were addressed.
The projects targeted the most affected communities in selected areas of the Gaza Strip: North Governorate (Biet Hanoun, Biet Lahia, Izbeth abed rabo), Gaza City Governorate (Shejaia , Zaytoon ), Middle area (Buriji Refugee Camp), Khanyonis (Alzanneh , Abassan , Alfokhari , Alfarahin and Bani sohaila ), and Rafah governorate (Borderline area, Alshoka ). For this reason the WC signed several partnerships with the following organizations:
- BASMA Society for Culture and Arts (BASMA)
- Community Training Center and Crisis Management (CTCCM)
- Palestine Trauma Center (PTC)
- Gaza Community Mental Health Program (GCMHP)
- Al Ataa society
- Sama Shamal Society
- Al Rwad for Palestinian Youth association
- Reyadah Society
- Al Taghreed Society
- Baraem Development Society
