Job Title: Information and Communications Officer
Responsible to: General Manager
Summary: To support the General Manager by designing, planning and implementing internal and external communication strategy and taking responsibility for the range and quality of PCDCR information services and communication afforded by PCDCR's website; ensuring that a participative approach is adopted in all work, and that mutual support is encouraged, collaboration facilitated and good practice shared.
Duties and responsibilities:
-Work with the manager to plan, develop and implement international relations and communication strategy;
-Manage regional, international and national communications with donors, partners and other stakeholders;
-Enrol the organization in new partnerships, memberships and alliances;
-Contribute in searching for fund opportunities;
-Contribute in preparing different projects reports;
-Produce materials for various audiences – including annual report, press releases and other PR/marketing materials;
-Draft and edit both paper and electronic publications as required;
-Gather needed information; produces success stories, fact sheets, “lessons learned” papers, newsletters and other external relations materials which show PCDCR accomplishments;
-Research, write and distribute all media materials, and promote positive coverage of PCDCR activities;
-Manage and update information on the website;
-Manage and update information and engaging with users on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook;
-Monitor and report on media coverage of PCDCR;
-Ensure the database holds accurate and up to date information;
-As requested, attend meetings and produce reports on key points of the discussion, any conclusions reached and action points;
-Attend public events and produce reports;
-Act as a focal point to respond to staff inquiries;
-Act as a member of PCDCR team and perform any reasonable duties as may be assigned;
Personal and professional competencies:
-A university degree in English language, international relations, development studies, communications, business or other relevant field.
-Five years related professional experience particularly in communications and public information.
-Fluency in written and spoken English.
-Positive attitude and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
-Demonstrated research and information gathering and analysis skills
-Brand and marketing experience within the humanitarian/not-for-profit sector and/or for a donor organization;
-Excellent technical skills in writing, editing, formatting;
-Ability to complete basic English – Arabic/Arabic - English translations
-Proven flexibility to handle changing priorities and managing multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently and without compromising quality;
-Proficiency with MS Office, internet content management and social media.
-Concern with democracy, conflict resolution, non-violent actions and human rights issues.
