Job Title: Logistics Assistant | Work Base Gaza Strip | Reporting to: Finance & Logistics Officer | Start date :As soon as possible

Duration: until 31st December 2015, with possibility of extension  

Background and General Responsibilities

Terre des hommes Foundation is a Swiss based INGO that has been implementing projects in the Gaza Strip since 1984. Tdh has had uninterrupted operational presence since 2009 with major focus on child protection, juvenile justice, hygiene promotion and has a strong reputation notably through the establishment and localization of Ard-el-Insan, the lead nutrition NGO in the Gaza Strip. Together with the Finance & Logistics Officer, the Logistic Assistant will be responsible for the effective implementation of logistic issues, including driving. Specific tasks include:

Logistics and Procurement
To be responsible of logistics aspects of Gaza base under the supervision of Finance & Logistics Officer
To work along with the Finance & Logistics Officer to ensure that the Terre des hommes logistics systems and procedures are followed
To ensure the respect of the Tdh procurement guidelines
To ensure accurate follow-up and treatment of PRs (purchase requests)
To ensure prompt ordering and delivery of goods
To participate in bid analysis and in drafting contracts with suppliers

Fleet Management:
To follow-up the fuel consumption of the vehicles with the drivers according to Tdh standards and report it to the Finance & Logistics Officer
To drive the base vehicle according to the needs. Ensure vehicle refueling and maintain sufficient emergency fuel stock for fleet vehicle.
To fill up in a daily basis the log books, including the fuel consumption follow up of the vehicle.
To ensure that Tdh security procedures are respected by the staff.
To keep the Finance & Logistics Officer and Office Manager informed about any fleet management issue. 

Service and Repair
-To be responsible that vehicles are in good running conditions.
-To ensure the daily and weekly maintenance of the base vehicle, ensuring that all the equipment required is always available in the vehicle.
-To report any maintenance needed and plan maintenance for the offices and guest houses, including equipment

Filing and Reporting
-Participate in overseeing the logistical filing system to include all purchase files, equipment manuals, maintenance, schedules and log documentation i.e.: vehicle log sheets, way bills, packing lists, maintenance reports, etc.
-To generate comprehensive monthly reports to the Finance & Logistics Officer



Qualifications and Experience
-University degree in Social Sciences, or related field
-At least 5 years of experience in driving, full valid driving licence with no restrictions
-At least 1 year of experience in working with INGO
-Excellent writing and communication skills
-Ability to communicate in English (simple conversation) a requirement
-Fluency in English is an asset
